INTRODUCING LORI MYERS!
LOCATION: San Francisco, California
Pictured in Luxe Nebula Shimmer Set.
Lori has been pole dancing since 2009. She and a friend took a class on a whim at Twirly Girls Pole Fitness and she has been poling ever since. The owner of Twirly Girls quickly nicknamed Lori and her six foot tall frame "the Twirling Viking Warrior." She began teaching beginning pole students a couple of years later and quickly learned she enjoyed building a solid foundation, helping dancers embrace their bodies and encouraging them to choose a style of dance that brings them the most joy. She coined the phrase: "pole dance is for everyBODY." She began cosplaying as Candy of Chunky Girl Comics in 2013 and enjoys helping to boost women's self-esteem in a world fraught with negative body image messages.
Lori began her blog, Confessions of a Twirly Girl, in January 2010 to chronicle her adventures in pole dance. She was the first plus sized blogger in the pole world. She, along with Roz "The Diva" Mays, created the popular Facebook group, Celebrating Plus Size Pole Dancers. Blogging and pole have provided her with opportunities to travel, meet new friends, and write for pole-related magazines and companies from all over the world. She is also the co-producer of Northern California Pole Presentational, the first independently produced Nor Cal pole event.
By day, Lori is an executive legal secretary. She also facilitates a weight loss surgery support group, so that she can provide guidance to those who are considering that route. Lori enjoys attending live concerts and drag shows, and has recently taken up hula dancing in addition to her pole and yoga classes. She appreciates the world that pole has opened up for her and is excited to work with Artista Activewear to offer pole clothing for all body types.
