Being named after the iconic and glamorous Sheila E., I would like to think I have that same tenacity and fiery spirit in my work. As a plus-size model living in Austin, TX, I find that the celebration of big beautiful bodies is something that is missing in our culture. Being plus-size does not limit me. My body is capable of anything at any size.

As an advocate for body positivity and fitness at any size, I find that taking risks is the only way to step out of your comfort zone. After watching Roz “The Diva”, a tour de force, pole dance, I knew I could do it too. I am proud to say that I am a newbie into the pole dance and fitness world because of women like Roz and brands like Artista Active Wear that promote body acceptance.

I frequently write about my experiences being a plus-size woman in my blog CurvyTrend and am continuously expanding my career in the plus-size fashion and modeling world. To find clothes that not only look good but feel good on your body is amazing. I want to challenge designers to take note of what brands like Artista Active Wear are doing to answer to women of all sizes. We are varying and our bodies are wondrous. We move beautifully in the world and we need a wardrobe to match that.

I am also a graduate student studying at St. Edwards University in Austin, TX. My goal is to graduate with a degree in mental health and open my own practice. I want to use my passions and pursuits as a way to show women and men of any size that you can do this too. You can do anything. You are a moving work of art. You are an Artista.
