INTERNATIONAL POLE CONVENTION
Posted on 02 June 2016
Are you attending your first Pole Con and feeling overwhelmed by everything? Maybe you're a returning attendee, but still aren't quite sure how to navigate everything? No worries! We're here with our top 5 tips to help you get the most out of your Pole Con experience this year!
1. Sign up for workshops
Workshops at Pole Convention are a special treat because they're just $90 for 90 minutes. You can't beat that deal! Not to mention, they're hosted by some of the best Pole Stars in the industry. How often will you be able to say that you took a workshop from the likes of Jamilla, Carlos Franca, or Crystal Belcher? Some of these workshops might be a once in a lifetime chance that you'll definitely want to take advantage of, especially if the instructor doesn't reside in the United States (like Amy Hazel and Dmitry Politov).
2. Clear your phone
We guarantee that you will be taking hundreds of photos all weekend long, which means you won't want those pesky notifications alerting you of low storage. Make sure to clear out your phone of any unnecessary photos or apps by saving them to your computer. It would also be wise to bring a battery pack with you so you can keep your phone charged on the go!
3. Make a budget
One of the best things about Pole Con is all of the incredible vendors that will be present selling some of your most wanted merchandise (including us!). Admittedly, this can pose a problem for several convention go-ers because there are so many great things available for purchase, but you'll have to make some tough decisions about where to spend your money. Come up with a set budget of how much you plan to spend on merchandise so your wallet won't be aching after Pole Con is over. It's also useful to make a budget for other expenses like workshops, food, drink, and outside entertainment.
4. Pack accordingly
Packing for Pole Con is actually pretty simple, considering that pole shorts, sports bras, and leggings are small and incredibly easy to fold. Make sure to bring comfortable pole or athletic wear for your workshops and roaming around the vendor floor. Bring 2 or 3 nicer outfits for the Opening Reception on Thursday night and for other nightly outings with your friends, and 1 or 2 casual outfits for exploring Fort Worth. If you know you'll be buying a lot of merchandise, save space in your luggage so you can pack it upon your departure. Also, make sure to bring comfortable shoes, as you'll be doing a lot of walking all weekend.
5. Follow Pole Con on social media
Pole Con will be posting updates about cool things happening all weekend including the latest schedule updates, so you'll want to make sure to stay in the loop. You can also share photos of your pole con experience all weekend long using the hashtag #polecon2016. For Instagram, follow @intlpoleconvention, and for Facebook, like "International Pole Convention."
